Who’s got the time to live sustainably?

Living a sustainable lifestyle in a society that isn’t, is a privilege. A privilege of TIME.
🕙
Take second hand shopping, for example. If you’re in need of something specific, it takes TIME to look for it. Thankfully it’s gotten easier with the help of the internet, where you can search for brands, sizes and types of items for example.
🕙
Or take grocery shopping. Not everyone has the knowledge about which is more sustainable between different options. And learning about that takes TIME.
🕙
Cooking from scratch takes TIME.
🕙
Contacting your local politicians takes TIME.
🕙
Educating yourself on sustainability takes TIME.
🕙
And that is something not everyone has.
🕙
It can be hard for some people to relate to that if they’ve never lived a life where you just cannot take the time for other things than what is absolutely crucial.
🕙
My husband and I already have many years of combined knowledge in that field, so we can make those choices without it taking much time.
Cause with a baby, for example, time for anything other than what’s absolutely necessary is sometimes scarce.
🕙
And there’s two of us. Imagine having more than one child, or being a single parent, or having whatever other reason where TIME for anything other than for basic needs.
🕙
Individual actions are not the sole answer to the climate crisis, but they do matter.
We need to cut ourselves and others some slack. Not everyone has the time, energy or mental health to make better choices.
